A crescente preocupação com o meio ambiente tem gerado diversos debates políticos e científicos nas últimas décadas. Assuntos como sustentabilidade, fontes alternativas de energia e energia renovável têm gerado amplas discussões em diversas áreas, especialmente em nosso país por possuir recursos naturais renováveis em abundância e um grande potencial energético. O objetivo deste artigo é mostrar o papel da metrologia na superação dos desafios técnicos inerentes ao consumo e exploração desmesurada das diversas fontes de energia, bem como a importância da realização de medições confiáveis, que possam servir de esteio às políticas públicas relativas ao meio ambiente.
ABSTRACT – The preoccupation with the environment has generated several political and scientific debates in recent decades. Issues such as sustainability, alternative energy sources and renewable energy have generated extensive discussions in several areas. The objective of this paper is to show the role of metrology in overcoming the technical challenges inherent in the consumption and excessive exploration of the different sources of energy, as well as the importance of reliable measurements for the environment.
